The perfect scapegoat: TERRORISM!

The Terrorists

We're in such a touchy time. Two years ago, we were so mellow. We didn't worry about terrorist attacks. We didn't worry about attack commercial airliners crashing into the World Trade Center buildings. We didn't think some jackoff was going to fly a plane into our pentagon, either. I didn't think another plane with the White House's name on is was flying right over my freakin head.

Then the day happened. Our non-elected president was in his glory. This was a tragic event, but it's not a blanket reason to rob the American people of our civil liberties. Under the name of terrorism, everyone's going to be investigated at some point or another. People can listen to your phone line because you might be a terrorist. Since Tommy Ridge was whisked away to Washington, he's developed the most confusing color coded system ever seen. Yellow, green, blue, purple, lavender, cream, WHAT THE HELL? Every time some mad Iraqi thug says they're gonna blow up the Alamo, we get some nondescript warning that explains NOTHING. This government is being run like Reagan and old Bush dreamed. Control and surveillance are how you run a country.

Then little Bush decides we need to be in Iraq long term. We brought it down, and we need to build it back up. Wait, maybe now the United Nations can help us now? Please? We're in a little over our head. We're printing more money than we're worth to support this rattered country we shook up. It's great that Saddam is no longer running that country, but how much better are those people? They are seeing themselves governed by the American military and former Saddam regime officials. As long as you haven't tortured or executed anyone innocent, you're allowed to ease back into a government job. The only qualification is the amazing ability to look the other way.

Enough of that, what the hell are we going to do? How are we going to protect ourselves without giving up some freedom? How are we going to let Iraq run themselves without throwing them to the wolves? How are we going to stop Walmart's invasion in rural America? Is it connected? No.

I'm just gonna stop here, because I'm treading on very controversial ground, and I'm not even sure where I stand. I just don't like our current regime. But I can say that without fear, too. hmm...
